Director of Rehabilitation
Ginger McConnell is the Director of Rehabilitation at Wild Bird Rescue. She began as a volunteer in 2015 and by the end of the year had accumulated enough time and experience volunteering to pass all requirements to become a sub-permitee, taking care of injured birds and raptors. In 2018 Ginger became the Director of Rehabilitation for Wild Bird Rescue and received full permits for bird care and rehabilitation through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Ginger worked as a nurse for many years before transitioning to a medical transcriptionist, which she did for over 18 years. She has always loved birds of all kinds and enjoys all aspects of bird rescue and rehabilitation.
"I immediately fell in love with the birds and the rescue and thus became a rehabilitator and completed many courses on rehabilitation of wild birds. I have spend many hours every day here at the rescue over the past 4 years and love working here so it seemed fit and meant to be that I become not just senior rehabilitator but the Director of Rehabilitation when that opportunity presented. Much of my nursing knowledge has helped with the transition to caring for the birds."
